Little Haldens

Buckinghamshire

2019

Little Haldens is a sustainable community in the sensitive landscape of the Gomm Valley in High Wycombe. The project includes 1000 homes, a community centre, workspace, a general store, a restaurant and cafe and a single form entry school.  The wider fifty hectare landscape is regenerated into chalk grassland and includes a natural swimming pond, public park, allotments and a series of smaller neighbourhood parks.

The houses nestle into the hillside and are arranged in a sequence of small villages.  The masterplan is arranged along a gently sloping and winding street, more than access, it provides places to be social, to play and to walk and cycle.  The project has been developed with the local community, included and consulted at each stage of the design in an open and engaging process through a series of events, workshops and open dialogue.
